Finally, today was one of the most anticipated matches of this World Cup, it was India taking on arch-rival Pakistan. Pakistan has never won against India in any World Cup. The score is 6 – 0. It was Match 22 of the World Cup. At Manchester, there was raining for a few days, which made people worried about the match. But the match started at a scheduled time. 1. Pakistan Won The Toss
Earlier, Pakistan Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed won the toss and elected to field first. Virat Kohli told that he was also about to field first if he had won the toss. But losing the toss came in blessing as a disguise for India.

Without Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma got the new opening partner in the form of KL Rahul. The duo together made a first opening 100 run partnership against Pakistan at World Cup. The previous best was 90 between Navjot Sidhu and Sachin Tendulkar in the World Cup 1996. KL Rahul scored a half-century.
The partnership of 136 runs was broken by Wahab Riaz. KL Rahul got out on 57. Virat Kohli joined Rohit Sharma and they keep the scoreboard ticking by rotating the strike. Meanwhile, Rohit finished his 24th century. His second in this World Cup.
When fans were thinking that Rohit Sharma will score his fourth double hundred, he got out by playing an unforgettable shot at 140 on Hasan Ali. Rohit along with Virat Kohli put together a 98 run stand. Virat Kohli became the fastest player to score 11000 runs in ODI cricket. He took 54 innings fewer than Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.
India was cruising towards 350, but the rain interruption brake the momentum and India managed to score 336/5 in their 50 overs.
Virat Kohli scored 77. MS Dhoni didn’t do much today and got out on 1. Hardik Pandya scored 26 in 19 balls. In the end, Vijay Shankar and Kedar Jadhav took India to a healthy total of 336 for the loss of 5 wickets. Mohammad Amir took 3 wickets with Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz took 1 wicket each.
3. Bhuvneshwar Hamstring Injury
Pakistan started watchfully. During his 3rd over, Bhuvneshwar got a hamstring issue, which left India worried. But this came as a blessing in disguise for India as Vijay Shankar came to complete his over.
4. Pakistan Batting Collapse
Vijay Shankar strikes in the very first ball and struck Imam plumb in front of the wicket. Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam tried to steady the innings for Pakistan. They both together put a 102 run partnership.
Once they were looking dangerous, Kuldeep Yadav provided India a much-needed breakthrough as he bowled Pakistan’s best batsman Babar Azam. The pressure of this match was so high that Pakistan lost 4 wickets in just 12 runs.
Hardik Pandya two wickets in two balls dented Pakistan hopes. He grabs the wickets of Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik in two successive deliveries. Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets each. This is when rain interrupts play. At the time of rain arrived Pakistan was 166/6 in 35 overs and were 86 runs behind DLS score. Once the rain stopped, Pakistan needs to make 136 runs in 30 balls and it was way too much as Pakistan lost the match by 89 runs DLS method.
5. Rohit Sharma – Man Of The Match
For his amazing knock of 140 runs in 113 balls, Rohit Sharma became the man of the match against Pakistan at Match 22 of this World Cup.
6. Fans Joint The Party
As this was the most anticipated match of this World Cup, the tickets of this match were sold out in just 48 hours. 66.18% of tickets were purchased by Indians, while 18% of tickets were bought by Pakistani fans.
India will play their next match against Afghanistan on June 22 at Southampton, while Pakistan will play against South Africa on June 23 at Lord’s London. Tomorrow we have West Indies take on Bangladesh at Taunton.
