Match 40, IPL 2018, after the heated encounter in the match 38, the Kings XI Punjab emerged victoriously. The latest encounter between the team turned out to be a one-sided victory for Rajasthan Royals. Chasing a total of 158 runs, KXIP started slow and could not pace up.

 

Match 40 Begins with Rajasthan Royals’ Batting

Winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals decided to bat first. Ajinkya Rahane could not impress us with his batting and he lost his wicket early. On the other hand, Jos Buttler maintained his form and continued to punish the KXIP bowlers. RR scored 63 in the powerplay overs with a loss of one wicket.

After the powerplay, Buttler was turned out to be a nightmare for the KXIP bowlers. Before the end of the 16 overs, Rajasthan Royals scored 132 runs with the loss of three wickets. The fourth wicket fell in the form of Buttler who scored 82 runs in 58 balls hitting 9 fours and a six.

After the loss of Buttler, RR batting stumbled. In the death overs, they could not score much and the innings ended at 158 runs with the loss of 8 wickets. Andrew Tye gave an amazing performance by striking 4 wickets.

The start for KXIP was not good. Chris Gayle was taken out early. Within first four overs, KXIP lost first three wickets and the score was not even 20 runs. By the end of the powerplay overs, Kings XI Punjab managed to score only 33 runs with the loss of 3 wickets.

The Rajasthan Royals bowlers kept the pressure of KXIP batsmen. However, Lokesh Rahul held his end and kept the scoreboard moving. After 15 overs, KXIP’s score was 92/6. They required 67 runs in the last 30 balls of the game.

Lokesh Rahul Completed his half-century but it was too late for the team to recover. KXIP required 57 runs in the last three overs. The victory slipped from their hand. All in all, RR pull off the victory by 15 runs.
