Yuzvendra Chahal was recently spotted with South African chess prodigy Jesse February, a two-time South African women’s chess champion and a one-time African women’s chess champion. Jesse rushed to social media to express her delight at meeting the Indian batsman. She stated:
“Finally met @yuzi_chahal!”

Jesse, a chess player from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, is 26 years old and has won multiple championships, including the Women International Masters Title in 2016. She was also the South African women’s chess champion twice and the world women’s chess champion once. Jesse won the Women’s African Individual Championship in May 2021 with a score of 7/9. She qualified for the Women’s Chess World Cup in July 2021 but was beaten in the first round by GM Valentina Gunina. Jesse also has a streaming site, ‘HashtagChess,’ and started her own profile under the name ‘Jesse_Feb’ on October 1, 2021.
Yuzvendra Chahal’s Take On Chess And Indian Cricket Team
When questioned recently about chess and the Indian cricket team, Chahal answered that he occasionally plays a round or two of chess on the internet. He stated:
“In the Indian team, there is no one who can beat me (laughs). Sometimes I play with R Ashwin, and then there is Shanker Basu, our trainer with whom I used to play. We used to play quite a bit during the flights and when we were traveling.”
He went on to say,
“I play chess sometimes during the journey before a game as it helps make me calm. And especially during the flights, I play chess.”
