Sampriti was an average student in school who failed physics and was advised by her teacher to become a housewife. However, she was determined to pursue her passion for engineering. And further went on to study at Jadavpur University in Kolkata. She later interned at NASA and worked on projects such as the Mars Rover and the International Space Station.

After completing her studies, Bhattacharyya founded N30 to create sustainable transportation solutions. The N30-Transformer is a fully electric vehicle that can take off and land on water, making it ideal for urban transportation. It is also designed to be environmentally friendly, with zero emissions and low noise levels.

Bhattacharyya’s work has been recognized by the industry. She has received several awards and accolades. 2019, she was named one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Energy. And in 2021, she was awarded the prestigious Rolex Award for Enterprise.

Sampriti Bhattacharyya’s story inspires many; her work at N30 is also a testament to the power of innovation and sustainability in creating a better future for all. She loved physics and did not let her failure or teacher’s comments hold her back. In an interview, she said, “I was not the best at math in high school, and he (the teacher) thought the best I could be was probably a housewife or work on a much smaller job.”

She also applied for an internship in about 540 companies and was accepted by only one particle Physics laboratory in the US. Further, she stated, “In each of the 540 emails, I told them what I could do for them, and only four responded. And then, ultimately, only one worked out, an internship at Fermilab.”

Furthermore, she added,

“In the last 13 years, I learned so much; it gave me the confidence to tackle any kind of hard problems, whether it was to design nuclear reactors or to build flight controllers or to build this flying boat.”
