The MLB lockout is in full swing, and there are some great chances to take advantage of the odds at BetUS as teams cannot sign talent for the foreseeable future. New York Mets (+1800)

The Mets had a plan this offseason, and that was to let the reigns of owner Steve Cohen go and make this franchise a contender. The team hired a new manager in Buck Showalter, hired Billy Eppler as their new GM, and went to work.

They wanted to get as much talent as possible. They did just that as they signed center fielder Starling Marte, outfielder Mark Cahna, infielder Eduardo Escobar, and starting pitcher Max Scherzer.

Kenley Jansen, Ryan Tepera, Collin McHugh, and Brad Hand are all available on the free-agent market for the taking as well once the lockout concludes.

Once this lockout concludes, do not be shocked to see the Mets sign some bullpen pitchers, as that has been the biggest issue for the team for a while now.

They are still in a tough division as the World Series Champions are still here, and both the Phillies and Marlins are trying to take that next step to be competitive in the division.

New York Yankees (+1000)

The Yankees aren’t the boldest team as they currently have the third-highest odds for the 2022 World Series Championship. But it just makes sense.

They have the pitching with Gerrit Cole but need some luck with guys like Luis Severino and Jameson Taillon in the health department. Their pitching was solid last season as they were third in ERA (3.74), saves (47), and hits allowed (1,243).

They have some talent at the plate too, after seeing that Aaron Judge can play a full season and Giancarlo Stanton’s body can endure playing in the outfield.

New York seems linked to one of the two premier shortstops on the free-agent market in Trevor Story and Carlos Correa, so that would really help fill a hole. There are rumblings that they could trade someone like Luke Voit for pitching/first baseman help and solidify this roster.

Los Angeles Dodgers (+550)

It is difficult to imagine that the Los Angeles Dodgers could be any better than they were heading into the playoffs last season. They lost Max Scherzer, but they have an entire season of shortstop Trae Turner, and they never had question marks surrounding their pitching staff.

Clayton Kershaw is still a free agent and has an opportunity to return. Still, the top of the rotation could potentially be Walker Buehler, Julio Urias, Trevor Bauer, Tony Gonsolin, and David Price. That is going to keep them in a lot of games.

The Dodgers also have a potent lineup. They still have Mookie Betts, Cody Bellinger, AJ Pollock, Matt Beaty, Max Muncy, Justin Turner, Trea Turner, and Austin Barnes under contract for this upcoming season.

This front office is not afraid to spend money and should dominate the NL West once again. The NL West should have the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants playing well this season, but there was a reason that the Dodgers were two games away from the World Series last season and should be serious contenders here once again.
