KXIP Win The Toss
The Punjab team wins the toss and elects to field this time around.
Player Under Focus: Mujeeb Ur Rehman
A lot will be expected from KXIP’s youngest IPL debutant, Mujeeb Ur Rehman. The Afghan cricketer has a bright future in cricket and it all begins with today’s match.
Delhi Daredevils Batting
Delhi started off quite slowly by recording just 10 runs in their first two overs. Things slowly started to look good when Captain Gambhir scored an iconic 36-ball fifty. This was his 36th IPL fifty equalling David Warner’s IPL record for most 50s in the competition. At the end of the 10th over, Delhi recorded a decent score of 77/2. Due to some brilliant bowling by Ashwin and Mujeeb, Gambhir and Tye were dismissed after scoring 55 and 28 runs respectively. At the end of the 20th over, Delhi Daredevils tabled a respectable score of 166/7.
Punjab’s Excellent Bowling
IPL Debutant Mujeeb Ur Rehman was the man under focus from Punjab’s bowling line-up. Punjab started off very strongly by reducing Delhi to just 77 after 10 overs. Mujeeb claimed his first ever IPL wicket after just 3 balls. That wasn’t it all. He got the much-needed wicket of Captain Gambhir who was looking rather dangerous but was out for just 55 runs. At the end of 20 overs, Punjab reduced Delhi to just 166 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.
Punjab Batting
Punjab was off to a dream start as KL Rahul recorded the fastest ever fifty in an IPL inning with a 14 ball 50. Post Rahul’s dismissal, Punjab managed to score 99 in the first ten overs.
An impressive inning by Nair helps Punjab slowly traverse towards a target of 167.
Delhi Bowling
Despite taking the important wicket of Rahul, Delhi has struggled to cope with the batting power of Punjab. So far, Delhi has done nothing significant in stopping Punjab march towards an impressive victory.
Man Of The Match
The Undoubted man of the match is KL Rahul whose 16 balls 51 guided KXIP to a famous victory over Delhi Daredevils with 6 wickets in hand.
