The project is expected to nurture the movement of people, goods, and services. It will boost regional tourism. It will provide a shorter route between Western, Southwestern, and Central India. The project will increase tourist visits to sites such as the Sri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain-Indore.

Project Aims To Boost Freight Capacity By 26 Million Tonnes

The expansion will add 26 million tons of freight each year. The project will provide direct access to the Pithampur auto cluster, home to 90 large and 700 small and medium industries. It will connect them to the JNPA port and other state ports.

It will also connect millet-producing districts in Madhya Pradesh with onion-producing areas in Maharashtra. This will make it easier to distribute these commodities across the country. The new route will also transport goods like agricultural products, fertilizers, containers, iron ore, steel, cement, and petroleum products.

The project will play a vital role in reducing logistics costs, cutting oil imports by 18 crore liters. It will also lower CO2 emissions by 138 crore kg, which is equal to planting 5.5 crore trees.
