PM Narendra Modi Nine Requests From The Citizens To Fight Against Coronavirus

Coronavirus has put the entire world into a panic. It is already declared By WHO as a pandemic. Till now the coronavirus has spread in more than 177 countries and one international conveyance, a Diamond Princess Cruise Ship harbored in Yokohoma, Japan. Things have become very serious in all parts of the World. Overall this Coronavirus COVID-19 has taken the lives of 9786 people all over the world. In India, there are 184 confirmed cases until now and 4 people lost their life due to coronavirus. India is taking precautions and several steps to fight against coronavirus. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi addresses the nation in the national broadcast for around 30 minutes. Narendra Modi told,

Even World War I and II did not affect as many countries as coronavirus has done. I need the next few weeks of our countrymen. This mindset is not correct. It is essential that each and every Indian remains alert and cautious. Complacency in respect of a global pandemic like coronavirus is not appropriate.

These are the nine requests Narendra Modi has made with every citizen to fight against coronavirus.

1. Every citizen should remain alert. Do not leave your house, unless it is very necessary.

Narendra Modi told,

“I appeal to you that for the next few weeks, step out of your homes only if absolutely necessary. As far as possible, try and do all your work, whether related to business or job, from home,”

2. People who are between 60-65 years old should stay inside their homes.

PM Modi added,

“Senior citizens, those above 60-65 years of age, should not leave their homes over the next few weeks,”.

3. On March 22, from 7 AM to 9 PM, follow Janta Curfew

PM Modi has called for Janta Curfew on March 22 from 7 AM to 9 PM. He urges the nation that every citizen should isolate themselves in their houses and should not come outside; except those in essential services. This will a test to show how much our nation India is ready to take the challenge of coronavirus pandemic. Narendra Modi told,

“This Sunday, that is on 22 March, all citizens must follow this curfew from 7 am until 9 pm. During this curfew, we shall neither leave our homes nor get onto the streets and refrain from roaming about in our societies or areas. Only those associated with emergency and essential services may leave their homes,”.

4. Give gratitude to the people who are serving others by clapping for 5 minutes at 5 pm on March 22.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has requested the nation to applaud the hard work and give gratitude to the medical professionals, sanitation staff, airline crews, delivery persons and media personnel among others who are risking their lives for the nation. He requested people to come out from their balcony or stand in front of the window and give them a five-minute standing ovation at 5 PM on Sunday, March 22,  by clapping hands, beating plates or ringing out bells.

5. Avoid going to hospitals for routine check-ups. Postpone surgeries that are non-essential.

PM Modi said,

“I request the countrymen to avoid visiting hospitals for routine check-ups. If you have an appointment for any non-essential surgery, please postpone for one month. We should keep in mind that pressure should not come to hospitals.”

6. COVID-19 Economic Response Task Force formed.

He added,

“Keeping in mind the economic challenges arising out of the Corona epidemic, the government led by the Finance Minister has a decided to constitute a Covid-19-Economic Response Task Force. The task force will remain in regular touch with all stakeholders, take their feedback and make decisions accordingly.”

7. Urges companies not to deduct the salaries of their employees.

“Please take care of their health and do not deduct their salaries for this duration as they also need money to keep their families safe and buy medicines.”.

8. Citizens should not indulge in hoarding, panic buying.

Narendra Modi requested panic buying must be avoided. The essential things including medicines should not be hoarded. The Government is working to ensure the supply of these things.

9. Don’t believe in rumors and stay away from false information.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses that people should not believe in rumors and should avoid the news that is not verified. He said,

“It is essential to keep two key factors in mind in order to combat this pandemic: resolve and restraint”.
