Today, June 5, at 11 AM, the education ministry revealed the NIRF 2023 rankings, which stands for National Institutional Ranking Framework. This year, a total of 13 categories have been made available. The lists feature rankings of higher education institutions in subcategories, including top universities and top colleges, as well as section-by-section listings of the finest engineering, medical, legal, and management schools, pharma colleges, architecture, and other institutions. According to the official website, the criteria for the rankings include Outreach and Inclusivity, Graduation Outcomes, Research and Professional practices, Teaching, Learning, and Resources, as well as Perception.
Institutions Participating In The NIRF 2023
This year, more colleges submitted applications for the ranking than ever before. As a result, 8686 institutions participated in NIRF 2023. Since NIRF’s debut in 2015, there has been a 150% increase in the number of institutes applying for it, according to Anil Kumar Nassa, NBA Member Secretary. As many as 3500 institutions participated in 2016. In 2022, there were 7254 higher education institutions participating.
As many as 6272 institutes participated in NIRF 2021. While the overall number of applications for rankings in various categories has climbed from 3,565 in 2016 to 6,272 in 2021, the number of unique candidates to India Rankings grew from 2,426 in 2016 to 4,030 in 2021.
2023 Data In A Nutshell
On September 29, 2015, the Minister of Human Resource Development announced the NIRF, which had been authorized by the MHRD. IIT Madras continued to hold the title of the best university in India last year. According to the NIRF Ranking 2022, IISC Bangalore, which was the top-ranking institute in both the research and university categories, came in second. However, if we look at the statistics from this year, IIT Madras came in first place overall, while IISc Bengaluru was named the best university.
In the newly formed category of agriculture and associated sectors, Indian Agricultural Research Institute earned first place. The finest management institute is IIM Ahmedabad, while Miranda House is the top-ranked college in the nation for the fourth year in a row.
