From July to September, Vivo sold 9.1 million phones in India which is 26 percent more than last year. They now control 19 percent of the Indian smartphone market which was 17 percent last year when they sold 7.2 million phones. Vivo did well because it started selling more phones online while keeping its strong presence in physical stores.

Xiaomi, which was number 1 before, is now in second place. They sold around 7.8 million phones in the third quarter of 2024. It is just a bit more than the 7.6 million that they sold last year. Even though they sold more phones, their share of the market went down from 18 percent to 17 percent which is why they lost their position from number 1.

They now have 13 percent of the market up from 10 percent. This happened because Oppo also started selling more phones online, especially their T3 and K12 series while continuing to sell well in stores.

Whereas we have compared many other companies like Apple, Motorola, Google, and others that are doing well in India. Apple sold many iPhone 15s, especially in smaller cities before the iPhone 16 launch. Motorola and Google are becoming quite popular because people like their design and cleanest software. They are also getting better at selling their phones through different channels. All these changes show how competitive the Indian market can be for the companies. Companies keep trying new things to attract customers before the festive season.
