These 3 Omicron Symptoms Of Coronavirus That Need To Be Taken Seriously

The whole world is suffering from the coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19 has rapidly spread all over the world. After the delta variant created havoc in many countries including India, now another variant omicron is spreading. It is spreading much faster than delta. India has over 6041 cases of omicron variant till now and many reports are still pending. Although the variant is mild, the rise in coronavirus cases is a major cause of concern. On December 27th, India has around 6500 cases per day of coronavirus. After omicron arrived, India has seen rapid growth in coronavirus cases. On January 14th, India had 2.68 lakh cases in a single day.

The belief of the variant is mild has made a lot of people negligent. Some believe that the symptoms are harmless, while others are mistaken for common cold and flu. This led to spreading the virus faster. It is important to know about the symptoms associated with coronavirus and its variants.

According to a US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analysis, cough, congestion, fatigue, and runny nose are the most common symptoms of the Omicron variant. Professor Tim Spector of Genetic Epidemiology at King’s College London urges everyone who is suffering from cold-like symptoms to get themselves tested immediately. According to him, mild fever, fatigue, night sweats, body pain, scratchy throat, without any sign of loss of sense of smell and taste can signal an Omicron infection. Here are the three omicron symptoms that need to be taken seriously.

 

1. Headache

Headache can arise due to multiple reasons. However, coronavirus or Omicron variant is concerned, the scientists have urged that it be added to the official symptoms list. The inflammation that takes place in the body post coronavirus infection, headache is the common symptom that may arise thereafter and it may occur with other symptoms.

 

2. Sore Throat

Scratchy throat or sore throat is a symptom that comes at the beginning of the omicron variant. It could be associated with pain in the throat. Doctor Angelique Coetzee, Chairperson of the South African Medical Association was the first to detect the Omicron variant. She had said that most patients infected with the new omicron variant reported a “scratchy” throat with a mild body temperature. But it gets better on its own.

 

3. Runny Nose

A runny nose is the most common symptom that has been associated with the coronavirus. Most Omicron symptoms are said to coincide with the common flu or cold or flu. This makes it difficult to tell whether one has coronavirus or a regular cold.

The best way to find out the coronavirus infection is to get an RT-PCR test done if you find any symptoms. If you have any symptoms, isolate yourself at home and take necessary precautions against coronavirus.
