A picture of two Pakistani women pilots has gone viral on the internet for all the right reasons. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) tweeted a picture of Captain Maryam Masood and First Officer Shumaila Mazhar who flew a “challenging” flight to Gilgit in North Pakistan. It the “dynamic duo” who led the all-female crew to fly through the mountains with much precision.
The Dynamic Duo
PIA took to Twitter saying,
“The flight to Gilgit is very challenging and requires a lot of precision and technique. Our dynamic duo, Captain Maryam Masood, and First Officer Shumaila Mazhar make it look so easy as they fly through the mountains celebrating the beauty of our northern areas! Way to go!! #PIA.”

Furthermore, First Officer Shumaila Mazhar confirmed to Geo.tv that Captain Maryam Masood and her all-female crew flew the PIA plane from Islamabad to Gilgit and back on Wednesday. This isn’t the first time that Captain Masood has made a mark in the country’s aviation sector. In addition, In August 2016, Maryam along with her sister Erum Masood made history by flying the coveted Boeing-777 aircraft to various local and international destinations.
A Challenging Flight To Gilgit
In addition, Back in 2006, PIA first launched an all-female crew for Gilgit. With tourism, trekking and mountaineering industry making a comeback — in fact growing after the decisive war on terror, the “great people to fly with” has relaunched its signature initiative.
