The FIFA U-17 world cup will start from 6th October 2017. Although, football is overlooked in India but this time the entire country is hyped up about it. Moreover, everyone has huge expectations from the Indian football team. Indian team will play against America on 6th October, against Colombia on 9th and against Ghana on 12th all three matches will be played in Delhi. The surprise fact is that most of the players selected in the U-17 Indian football team are from small town and they have interesting stories. Moreover, 10 of them are from North East region of India and their story is the success against all odds. So let us know a bit more about some of the small town players in the team.
Komal Thatal- Sikkim
His parents are tailor. There was a time when he had no money to buy a football but he could not resist the impulse of the game so he used to make football from the clothes for playing.
Amarjit Singh- Manipur
Now he is the captain of U-17 team but there was time when he could not afford football and he used to play with a football shaped fruit.
Aniket Jadhav- Maharashtra
He has immense passion for football he had wrote in his hostel that he would play for India one day. Guess what? He has made it reality.
Abhijit Sarkar- Bengal
Abhijit Sarkar had interest in football from an early age. However, in 2013 the Brazilian defender Carlos Alberto visited India there he was impressed by Abhijit’s performance and he gifted him a football and said “make it your friend” this swung the life of young Abhijit.
Jitendra Singh- Bengal
His father is a Watchman while his mother is a tailor. Despite being poor his family always supported him for football. Now it is his time to shine and seize this opportunity.
Boris Singh Thangjam- Manipur
Before being our football hero, Boris Singh had to go through hard times. His father was a labor who desired education for his son so that he doesn’t have to do the laboring. However, the football fever of Boris took over everything and he received permission to make a career in the game.
Sanjeev Stalin- Karnataka
Sanjeev set an example from his hard work. He told that his father wanted to play for the country but he could not go higher than the state level. But his son has made his dream come true.
