On Monday, Lillis’s death from breast cancer was confirmed on social media by Veronica Taylor, the voice of Ash in the animated Pokémon series. Lillis passed away on Saturday. She dies following a lengthy battle with breast cancer.

Born in 1978 in Niagara Falls, New York, Rachael Lillis is an American. Before going into voice acting, she received training in opera at university. According to IMDB, 423 episodes of the “Pokémon” series included her voice, which dates back to 1997.

In addition to providing the voice of Misty and Jessie in “Pokémon,” she also provided the voice of Jigglypuff. Video games, like Nintendo’s well-known Super Smash Bros. series, have included her voice.

Rachael was an extraordinary talent, a bright light that shone through her voice whether speaking or singing. She will be forever remembered for the many animated roles she played, with her iconic performances as Pokemon‘s Misty and Jessie being the most beloved,” Taylor said in her post.

“Rachael was so thankful for all the generous love and support that was given to her as she battled cancer. It truly made a positive difference. Her family also wishes to thank you as they take this time to grieve privately. A memorial is being planned for a future date,” Taylor added.

The news of the demise of cherished Pokémon voice actor Rachael Lilli has left Anime World in sadness. One of the users wrote, “Misty wasn’t always my favorite character but I know part of me is going to miss her terribly as 1/3 of that iconic trio. (Amazing also as Jessie and Jigglypuff.”

Another user said, “I recently read the GoFundMe page that her sister wrote and I think my heart just broke into a few pieces but at least she’s at peace and no longer in pain like her sister said I know that you’ll get through this because you are strong.” Netizens dropped characters from one of the popular TV shows from the 90s in the comment section.

Lillis began her career as a voice actor in the 1990s and quickly became well-known in the animation sector. She voiced Misty, the water-type gym leader, in the 1998 premiere of the first Pok mon anime series. Misty became one of the most well-known characters in the Pokemon universe, right up there with Ash, Pikachu, and Brock. Lillis also played the infamous Jessie from Team Rocket, who along with her friend James and their talking Meowth turned into a beloved antagonist in the series.
