General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madulika Rawat, and 12 other members of the Indian Armed Force were killed in a helicopter crash. It is a sad day for every citizen. The event occurred in a village close to Tamil Nadu. The helicopter had fourteen individuals on board, and thirteen of them died as a result of the collision. Captain Varun Singh, the group’s captain, was the only one to escape the crash and is receiving critical care at the hospital.
General Rawat, 63, was on his way to deliver a lecture at the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington. Along with members of the CDS staff, he was accompanied by his wife, the president of the Defence Wives Welfare Association. There have been other such air crashes in the past in which we have lost some of the most prominent Indian personalities. Let’s have a look at a few of them:
1. Subhas Chandra Bose
Subhas Chandra Bose’s death is still a source of debate and controversy. However, there are speculations and it is believed that the helicopter he was traveling in crashed near Taiwan in 1945. His body was not found that is still a mystery.
2. General Bipin Rawat
A helicopter crash killed General Bipin Rawat, his wife, and twelve other army men. The plane crashed near Tamil Nadu on the 8th of December 2021. One of the fourteen people present has been discovered alive and is undergoing treatment as of writing.
3. Sanjay Gandhi
Sanjay Gandhi, Indira Gandhi’s younger son, died in 1980. He was flying in a glider when it crashed after taking off from Delhi’s Safdarjung Airport.
4. Madhavrao Scindia
Madhavaro Scindia, a senior congressman, died in the plane crash, he was flying back in the year 2001. He was driving to Kanpur to attend a rally when the accident occurred, resulting in a tragic tragedy.
