Ghatkamble confessed to receiving a heft amount of Rs 3 lakh bribe to swap the blood samples of the teenage driver. The police recovered Rs 2.5 lakh from Dr. Halnor and Rs 50,000 from Ghatkamble’s residence during a raid.

The minor was taken for medical tests after the tragic accident on May 19. Speculations emerged when the initial Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report showed no alcohol in the teen’s blood. This amusing result was doubtful about the given conditions. A second test at an alternate hospital, combined with DNA tests, revealed the shocking truth: the samples were from two different people.

 

Arrest And Confessions

The three accused have confessed to their part in the tampering. They confessed to swapping the teenager’s blood sample with that of a sober individual and disposing of the sample in a dustbin. This devious act was pointed toward safeguarding the minor from legal repercussions.

The Maharashtra government has formed a three-member board to investigate the matter further. Also, Medical Education Commissioner Rajiv Nivatkar declared the panel’s visit to Sassoon General Hospital and instructed Dean Dr. Vinayak Kale to coordinate completely.
