Dr. LN Danwade, one of the board members, granted bail in only less than 15 hours after the accident, starting public outrage. Following the episode and the police indicating that they would charge the teen as an adult, the bail terms were modified. The minor was then sent to a remand home until June 5.

A five-member committee, led by the Deputy Commissioner of the Women and Child Development Department, is investigating the role of the board members. The committee will check if the legal provisions were followed while granting bail. A report is expected next week.
Alarming Violations Revealed
The case has revealed multiple protocol violations by the Yerwada police. They failed to file a report with the Police Control Room and delayed administering blood alcohol tests. Allegations have arisen that the teenager was given pizza in jail instead of being tested immediately. Two policemen have been suspended for these lapses.

The minor’s dad, a prominent real estate developer, has been arrested on charges of endangering his child’s life, forgery, cheating, and criminal conspiracy. His granddad and the pub owners who served the teen alcohol have likewise been arrested. Moreover, two doctors from Sassoon Hospital have been arrested for altering blood samples. Thus reportedly swapping the teen’s sample to hide his intoxication.
