Who is PV Sindhu?
On 10 August 2013, Sindhu became the first ever Indian women's singles player to win a medal at the World Championships. On 30 March 2015, she received India's fourth highest civilian honor, the Padma Shri. On 18 August 2016, she became the first Indian woman to reach Olympic finals after beating Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the semi-finals of Rio Olympics 2016. She broke into the Top 20 in the Badminton World Federation rankings released on 21 September 2012.
Sindhu's father Ramana is himself an Arjuna Awardee. Ramana represented India in Volleyball. On 18 August 2016 Sindhu beat Japanese badminton player Nozomi Okuhara in Rio Olympics 2016 to enter into the finals of Badminton singles and assuring India of a medal in badminton.
Sindhu's Final in Rio :
Sindhu is to battle it in the finals with her opponent, Carolina Marin. Carolina is from Spain and she is ranked No.1 in the world by the Badmiton Federation in Women's Singles 2016. Whereas, Sindhu ranks No.10 in the world. It's going to be the ultimate showdown and has created a lot of anticipation amongst the fans. The match is guaranteed to move every spectator to the edge of their seats.

How the game went,
Sindhu won the first game with a score of 21 – 19, though Carolina steadily maintained the lead. Sindhu's tough fight and efforts paid off and she won the first game.
Carolina won the second game with a jaw dropping score 21 – 12. The match was so anticipating and Sindhu tried her best to keep up with the world champion but Carolina defeated Sindhu.
The third began just like the second, Carolina racing to a steady lead and Sindhu playing catch-up. The match was so intense and had everyone in the edges of their seats. It finally got over when Carolina won with a score of 21 – 15.
She might have not won the gold but she won our hearts! She made our nation proud and stirred the patriotism in the air!
