The daily trip she makes between work locations takes her hundreds of kilometers through the sky, moving across multiple state borders during her regular workday route. AirAsia Finance Operations Assistant Manager Racheal Kaur successfully transformed her demanding travel activities into an efficient and budget-friendly system. Her daily flight commute, which most people probably consider overwhelming, improves her work-life balance.

Why Does Racheal Kaur Travel Every Day?

Racheal Kaur originally lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, renting a home near her workplace and traveling back to Penang only once a week. The limited time she spent commuting with her children forced her to struggle between work commitments and parental responsibilities. Living apart from her children became so distressing that she needed to reevaluate her housing arrangements.

In 2024, she took an audacious step by choosing daily flights to her job instead of remaining distant from her home. According to Kaur’s interview, the unexpected success of her daily travel to work has proven that this new routine is beneficial. Through this method, she has increased her presence with her children while discovering that it serves as a practical and sustainable strategy for balancing her professional responsibilities and family needs. Kaur said in an interview with CNA Insider,

“I have two kids, both are growing. My oldest is 12, and my daughter is 11. With them growing up, I feel the need for a mother to be around more often. With this arrangement, I’m able to go home every day and see them at night”.

Racheal Kaur manages AirAsia’s Finance Operations as an Assistant Manager through a travel system that optimizes movement while minimizing costs. She counters the impression that commuting by flight daily would be overwhelming by stating that this unique method strengthened her work-life balance.

Before switching cities Kaur lived in Kuala Lumpur, renting accommodations near her workplace while reserving her single weekend trip back home to Penang. Her frequent physical absence from her children created challenges as she tried to balance motherhood with work responsibilities. The ongoing separation created emotional challenges that made her consider changing her living arrangements.

Early in 2024, she took a courageous step by choosing daily flights to work instead of remaining in a distant location. According to Kaur’s interview, she discovered that daily air travel has proven beneficial in unexpected ways. She can now actively engage with her children while finding her work schedule and family responsibilities to be both practical and sustainable.
