The legend A R Rahman and Saira Banu have parted ways. On November 19, they took it officially and announced the divorce in a social media post. This was heartbreaking not only for the family but for the fans as well. AR Rahman is admired by many of us and the couple seems to have a happy life. However, now 29 years of marriage has come to an end. The couple was spotted at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding. Family and fans are still in shock as the reason for separation is still a curiosity for them.
Reason For AR Rahman And Saira Banu’s Divorce
Netizens have been trying to figure out the reason behind their divorce. The divorce news is confirmed by both of them. Saira Banu’s lawyer Vandana Shah stated that “couples’ relationship issues were the reason for their relationship”. The couple had some differences and struggles that resulted in divorce. She also stated that they are unable to resolve at this time.
The official statement by the Lawyer,
“After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband Mr. AR Rahman. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time. Mrs. Saira emphasized that she has taken this decision out of pain and agony. Mrs Saira requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time, as she navigates this difficult chapter in her life.”
AR Rahman And Saira Banu’s Marriage Life
Earlier AR Rahman and Saira Banu had shared a glimpse of arranged marriage with Simi Garewal. AR Rahman and Saira Banu got married on March 12, 1995. They have three children, two daughters Khatija and Raheema, and a son Ameen. The music legend revealed in an interview that his mother and sister first saw Saira at the shrine of the Sufi saint Moti Baba in Chennai. A R Rahman shared,
“I was 29, and I told my mother, ‘Find me a bride.’ Initially, she used to get frustrated. I mean not going out. I mean generally, you can’t go out shopping and…”
AR Rahman confirmed on X about his divorce. He wrote
“We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.” In his post, he used the hashtag, #arrsairaabreakup.”
