5. Social Media Mode Of Conduct
Social Media giants like Facebook will keep Fake News under control during the Elections 2019. All political candidates will be required to disclose their social media handles to the Election commission. Facebook is planning to set up a new regional operations centers ar their Dubai and Singapore office to focus on election integrity.
6. Photograph Of Candidates
The first time for this year election 2019 is the photograph of the candidates along with the symbol of their respective party on the electronic voting machines (EVM). This will surely be going to help voters to make a conscious decision.
7. Increase In Number Of Polling Stations
During Elections 2014, there were nine lakhs polling stations were set up. This number is increased in 2019 to more than 10 Lakh. There will be 10,35,918 polling stations. Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPATs) will also be used at all Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) across all polling stations.
8. Increase In Number Of Officials To Conduct Polls
There is no denying that holding an election in World’s second largest populated country is a very huge and complex task. Moreover, India is the seventh largest country in terms of area. So, the officials required to conduct polls are also required in huge numbers. These poll workers need to visit in several parts of the country from the snow-capped Himalayas to remote island in Arabian, from dense forest of Chhatisgarh to the villages situated at the desert of Rajasthan and Gujarat.
They use various modes of transport like planes, boats, choppers, camel, train, bus, elephants and even travel walking to reach these far voters. This year election commission will mobilize around 11 million officials to conduct elections at 1.3 million polling booths and more than two million electronic voting machines will be used.
These are the various things which make this year election different from previous elections.
