Reliance Jio upped the pricing of both its prepaid and postpaid services beginning July 3. It has been under fire for deleting some of the most popular inexpensive deals for prepaid subscribers following the latest rate rise. The price increase has sparked resentment among many telecom customers, resulting in a ‘BoycottJio’ trend on X. Similarly, several individuals shared selfies with fresh BSNL SIM cards starting a trend called ‘BSNL ki ghar wapsi’. The business discreetly deleted numerous popular prepaid packages after the price rise. As a result, some plans formerly available to Jio consumers are no longer available for recharge. The telecom rectified this issue by discreetly launching three new ‘True Unlimited Upgrade’ add-on plans. Here’s all that you must know.

Among the terminated plans are some that were combined with popular OTT subscriptions. Here are some of the major proposals that have been removed:

  • The Rs 3,662 Plan provided 2.5GB of data per day for 365 days, including SonyLIV and Zee5 subscriptions.
  • The Rs 3,226 Plan which included 2GB of data per day for 365 days with a SonyLIV subscription.
  • Rs 3,225 Plan that entailed 2GB of data per day for 365 days and a Zee5 subscription.
  • Rs 2,999 Plan which Includes 2.5GB data each day for 365 days.
  • The Rs 909 Plan provided 2GB of data per day for 84 days, coupled with SonyLIV and Zee5 subscriptions.
  • The Rs 806 and Rs 805 Plans provided 2GB of data per day for 84 days, with the Rs 805 package adding a Zee5 subscription.
  • Rs 3,178 Plan Included 2GB of data per day for 365 days with a Disney+ Hotstar subscription.
  • The Rs 4,498 Plan included 2GB of data each day for 365 days, 78GB bonus data, and a JioTV Premium subscription.
  • The Rs 3,227 Plan included 2GB of data each day for 365 days with a Prime Video subscription.

Other Changes

These above changes imply that users will no longer receive bundled subscriptions to SonyLIV, Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5, or JioTV Premium with these plans. Several additional popular ideas have been removed:

– The Rs 1,559 package is now available as the Rs 1,899 plan, which does not include unlimited 5G data.
– Rs 61 5G Data Booster Pack: Price hiked to Rs 69; no longer includes unlimited 5G.
– Rs 398, Rs 4,498 and Rs 1,198. Plans: All included JioTV Premium and are no longer available.
– Rs 331 Plan: Includes 40GB of data and 30-day validity with a Disney+ Hotstar subscription.

Jio Three New Prepaid Plans

Users trolled Reliance Jio for discontinuing some of its plans. The telecom rectified this issue by discreetly launching three new ‘True Unlimited Upgrade’ add-on plans. The three new prepaid plans will be added to the existing plan, rather than being stand-alone. If the customer owns a 5G-compatible device, the new plans will provide limitless 5G access. However, limitless 5G data is only accessible while connected to the Jio True 5G network, and the device must be 5G compatible. If the network transitions to 4G, the plans will have restricted data. View the detailed plans below:

  • The Rs 151 plan will include 4G data: 9GB at high speed.  Jio True 5G network offers unlimited high-speed data for devices that support 5G.
  • The Rs 101 plan provides 4G data: 6GB at fast speeds. 5G Data: Unlimited at high speeds (for 5G-supported devices on the Jio True 5G network).
  •  The Rs 51 Plan includes 3GB of high-speed 4G data and unlimited 5G data for devices enabled by Jio’s True 5G network.

The new plans address the issues that many people had on X following the removal of various inexpensive prepaid plans, including the Rs 1559 plan and the Rs 359 plan. However, the earlier plans were stand-alone, as opposed to the three additional add-ons. Aside from these plans, only those with prepaid plans of 2GB per day or more would be eligible for unlimited 5G access. Any data bundle that gives 1.5GB or less of data per day must closely adhere to the restriction.
