Sachin Tendulkar bashed Team India’s selection after another defeat at the ICC final. Team India failed once again in the ICC knockouts. This is India’s second ICC World Test Championship final consecutive loss in the 2 WTC cycles. Indian Cricket Team did not look like a threat to the mighty Aussies. After winning the toss, India opted to field first at Kennington Oval, England. However, the move backfired when Steve Smith and Travis Head scored centuries and put India on the back foot.
When India invited Australia to bat, it was only for an hour when there were overcast conditions. For the rest of the Test match, it was bright and sunny. India opted to play without Test No.1 bowler off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. The move proved to be costly, as Australia had five left-handers in the team.
Many legend cricketers questioned Team India’s strategy and the omission of Ravichandran Ashwin from the Playing XI. After the 209 runs defeat, Sachin Tendulkar tweeted and raised the question on the absence of Ravichandran Ashwin.
Sachin Tendulkar Slams Team India’s Selection
Sachin Tendulkar was not impressed with Team India’s strategy and questioned the team management, coach Rahul Dravid, and captain Rohit Sharma on Ravichandran Ashwin’s omission. He was unhappy and wrote he failed to understand the exclusion of Ravichandran Ashwin in Playing XI. Sachin also mentioned that Ravichandran Ashwin is currently the Number one Test bowler in the world. He said that skillful spinners don’t rely on turning tracks. In his tweet, Sachin wrote,
“Congratulations to Team Australia on winning the #WTCFinal. @stevesmith49 and @travishead34 set a solid foundation on Day one itself to tilt the game in their favour. India had to bat big in the first innings to stay in the game, but they couldn’t. There were some good moments for Team India, but I fail to understand the exclusion of @ashwinravi99 in the playing XI, who is currently the number one Test bowler in the world.
Like I had mentioned before the match, skillful spinners don’t always rely on turning tracks, they use drift in the air and bounce off the surface to disguise their variations. Not to forget, Australia had 5 left-handers out of their top 8 batters.”
Not only cricketers but many fans trolled Team India for failing once again at the ICC event. India had not won any ICC trophy since 2013 when they won the Champions Trophy against England in the final in the rain-affected game. Team India’s batting failed once again. The top 5 are not able to score runs consistently, which results in the downfall of the Indian cricket team. With WTC 2023-2025 about to start, do you think Team India desperately needs a serious change in the playing XI? India will start their WTC 2023-2025 cycle campaign on July 12 with a tour to West Indies, where they will play 2 Test matches. Here is the WTC 23-25 schedule.
