8. Punjab
Punjab was rated well in all dimensions except poverty. It has a GVI of 0.592 which is a little greater than the national average of 0.5314.
9. Maharashtra
Maharashtra mainly focused on women safety in the IT sector, which cause it to slip to 9th position. It has a GVI of 0.592 which is exactly the same as that of Punjab.
10. Tamil Nadu
Standing in the 10th position, Tamil Nadu comes under the category of ‘satisfactory performance’. it has a GVI of 0.582.
The Worst, And Expected!
The worst performing state in India is Bihar with a GVI of just 0.410. Researchers claim that over 39% of girls are married before their legal age and over 12% of girls in the age group 15-19 are pregnant or are having kids.
What About Others?
Delhi, the capital of India, got a GVI of 0.436. Delhi, UP, and Bihar are on the bottom because of the condition of women in these three states. Punjab on the 8th position and Sikkim on the 4th position ranks well in all dimensions except for poverty.
