Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is leaving for space on July 20 with other selected people in the rocket system New Shepherd. His brother Mark Bezos is also included in the list. A few days ago, a billionaire Richard Branson also flew to space in his own spacecraft. Sanjal Gavande, from India, is also a part of the team which has built the spacecraft, New Shepherd. The crew also includes one oldest person named Wally Funk, 82-year-old, and one 18-year-old teen, Oliver Daemen, who is the paying customer. In this way, he made a record as the first and also youngest paying customer to space.
This crew is going to travel in the New Shepherd spacecraft. New Shepherd has been developed by a company named Blue Origin. Blue Origin is Jeff Bezos’s owned company which was started in the year 2000.
Who Is Sanjal Gavande?
Sanjal Gavande, a 30-year-old woman, joined the list of Indians who have made the nation proud in the past. Sanjal is from Kalyan, Mumbai. She is working as a system engineer in Blue Origin. Sanjal Gavande has working experience in different organizations before joining Blue Origin. She worked previously in marine and car racing organizations. While talking to the media, Sanjal said,
“I am really happy that my childhood dream is about to come true. I am proud to be a part of Team Blue Origin.”

After completing Mechanical Engineering at Mumbai University in 2011, she joined Michigan Technological University in the US to pursue a master’s in the subject. She completed her master’s degree in 2013 and scored first class in the subject.
Family Background Of Sanjal Gavande
Talking about her family background, her father is a retired officer who worked at Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation. Her mother, Surekha, is also retired from her work. She worked as an employee at Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited. Her mother, while interacting with media, stated,
“From childhood, my daughter has been into space and we are proud that from making car engines she has graduated to rockets. We are very happy about my daughter’s achievement—that she was selected for an international project.”
Sanjal Gavande’s Dream
While coming to her career, when Sanjal was working at Toyota Racing, she joined weekend flying lessons to pursue her dream career in flying. On June 18, 2016, she got a pilot’s license for the hard work she put into her dream career. Her mother also stated while on the conversation with the media that when she was applied for an engineering job at NASA, she got rejected for the issues in the citizenship. Later on, she applied for the post of system engineer in Blue Origin in Seattle, and she got a job there, which is now made her name popular and has become an inspiration for many Indian youngsters.
