Shimla witnessed the rare snowfall in December, covering the hill station and nearby areas with snow. This unexpected snowfall has made the tourist spots like Shimla, Kufri, and Kasauli into picturesque winter destinations. On December 9, Shimla records a minimum temperature of 2.5°C. Literally a freezing temperature! Other nearby regions Seobagh recorded 0°C, Bajaura 0.1°C, Manali 0.2°C, Kufri 0.4°C, Solan 0.5°C, and Una 1°C.

Shimla’s snowfall quickly became a trending topic on social media. The videos of snow-covered landscapes are getting viral. People are seeing enjoy the winter weather with a glimpse of snow. However, according to the Meteorological Department, the glimpse doesn’t last long in Shimla due to the slightly higher minimum temperature. Higher-altitude regions in Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, Kullu, Kinnaur, and parts of Shimla district continued to experience snowfall, and Jubbal and Kharapathar were covered with snow.

The first snowfall, oh, who doesn’t want to be a part of it? Well, the first snowfall has attracted many Himachali tourists, and now a major boost has been seen in the tourism industry. The hotel’s bookings are increasing as visitors find a way to enjoy the weather of Shimla. A resident stated, “It’s for the first time that we witnessed snowfall in early December.”

With Christmas and New Year just around the corner,  Shimla and other hill stations are now on the tourist hit list, and a major surge will be seen in the upcoming festive season. This early snow has come as a blessing, directly turning the place into a winter wonderland, and reviving the region’s stagnant tourism industry. The lovely visuals of snowed-up hills and hilly areas and the first snowfall have brought in locals and tourists from other states, resulting in the availability of houses for rent, hotels, and people talking about the area.
