Disturbing news has emerged from Shimla, The “Shiv Temple” at the summer hill collapsed due to heavy landslides. The landslides were a result of heavy rainfall in the region. As Per now, 9 people have been declared dead, and it’s assumed that about 15-20 people are still stuck in the debris. The rescue operations are now underway. On Monday, a landslide struck the Shiv temple around 7:30 am. Many devotees had converged to offer their prayers when tonnes of debris flowed down a hill. State’s Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, took to his X account and posted,

“Distressing news has emerged from Shimla, where the Shiv mandir at summer hill collapsed as a result of the heavy rainfall. As of now, nine bodies have been retrieved. The local administration is diligently working to clear the debris in order to rescue individuals who may still be trapped.”

Another landslide has been reported in ear Lal Kothi near Phalgi Locality. More than a dozen people are feared buried under the debris.

The heavy rains during the monsoon have been the reason behind widespread destruction across the state. Several people have lost their lives, and many are severely injured. Heavy rainfall triggering landslides and floods have resulted in the blockage of roads and disruption of connectivity.

The concerned authorities have blocked nearly 800 roads across the state. Major highways, including Kalka-Shimla, Kiratpur-Manali, Pathankot-Manali, and Dharamshala-Shimla, are blocked. Authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary travel to the state.

In conclusion, Himachal Pradesh is not a safe space to travel right now. The authorities have released many notices and advisories to all citizens to avoid unnecessary travel in the region.
