A female employee of SpiceJet was taken into custody on Thursday after getting into a fight with members of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the Jaipur airport. The airline reacted when the event gained media notice, claiming that it was an instance of sexual harassment. Further, a senior CISF officer stated that the female employee’s agitation and her slap on the CISF force who was on duty caused the situation to worsen.

SpiceJet Employee Slapped CISF Personnel

Around four in the morning, Anuradha Rani, an airline food supervisor, was questioned by Assistant Sub Inspector Giriraj Prasad for not having the authorization to use the “vehicle gate”. This happened when she and other staff members were entering the airport through it.  She was then requested to go through screening at the adjacent airline staff door. The CISF authorities stated that at the moment, there were no female workers available. She is presently being investigated after being charged under certain Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) provisions.

SpiceJet issued an official statement shortly after the event, providing an alternative perspective of the brawl.
The airline described the incident as a serious case of sexual harassment. It further declared its intention to pursue legal action right now.

In a formal response to the statement, SpiceJet Airlines stated,

“Today, an unfortunate incident occurred at Jaipur Airport involving a SpiceJet female security staff member and a male CISF personnel. While escorting a catering vehicle at the steel gate, our female security staff member, who had a valid airport entry pass issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), India’s civil aviation security regulator, was subjected to inappropriate and unacceptable language by the CISF personnel, including asking her to come and meet him after his duty hours at his home.”

“SpiceJet is taking immediate legal action in this serious case of sexual harassment against its female employee and has approached the local police. We stand firmly by our employee and are committed to providing her with full support.”
