Paris Olympics 2024: Sports Minister Reveals The Cost Of Training For Olympic Medal Winner Manu Bhaker

The recent Paris Olympics 2024 has many Indian sports players participating in it. From badminton to pistol shooting, the Indian players are waving the flag high in the sky. Manu Bhaker made every Indian proud by bringing a bronze medal for the nation. In the Women’s Air Pistol final on Sunday, Bhaker came in third place to earn a bronze medal. She made Olympic history as the first Indian woman to take home a medal in shooting. Many people including the sports minister congratulated the player. Sports minister, Mansukh Mandaviya also revealed the amount spent on Manu’s training.

 

Here Is The Amount Government Spent On Manu Bhaker’s Training

Indian Sports Minister, Mandaviya disclosed that Manu Bhaker’s training cost approximately Rs 2 crores. Additionally, Manu was sent to Germany and Switzerland for it. He also conveyed optimism about the performance of other athletes at the Olympics.

“Around Rs 2 crore was spent on Manu Bhaker’s training. She was sent to Germany and Switzerland for training. Financial help was provided which was needed for her to hire a coach who she wanted. We are providing this ecosystem to all athletes so that they give the best performance at national and international competitions. I am confident that our athletes will perform well in the Paris Olympics too,” stated the sports minister.

Mansukh Mandaviya also informed about how proud he felt about India’s win. Additionally, he mentioned how good trainers and coaches were hired for the intense training. Mansukh also appreciated the PM for the Khelo India initiative which set up the sports infrastructure. The sports minister further informed how the government made sure that there existed no financial constraints in sports.

“By winning the first bronze medal in the Paris Olympics, Manu Bhaker has made India proud. In her interaction, she said that she has been a part of ‘Khelo India’. I am delighted to tell you that PM Modi started ‘Khelo India’ and under this initiative, sports infrastructure was set up in the country, sports competition was increased, and projects were floated to identify sports talent at school and college levels. Good coaches were hired to train the talents identified, they were provided good training and under the TOPS scheme, arrangements were made to ensure that they did not face any financial constraints.” said Mandaviya.

 

Manu Bhaker’s Performance At The Paris Olympics 2024

Bhaker won a bronze medal in the ongoing Paris Olympics. Her score of 221.7 brought India’s first medal of the competition. She is the first Indian woman to compete in an individual Olympic shooting final in 20 years, since Suma Shirur in 2004. Manu has previously been a part of the Tokyo Olympics when her gun malfunctioned during the match.  Once more, Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh will compete in the qualification rounds of the 10 m air pistol mixed team competition starting at 12:45 PM.
