The areas of Jammu and Kashmir will be closer thanks to the planned Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express, which will travel along one of the Indian Railways’ most-awaited train lines. The Ministry of Railways has set aside eight coaches for this train, which would run over the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL). The second Vande Bharat Express in Jammu and Kashmir will be the Jammu-Srinagar route. The train will travel the 272-kilometer Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link, which passes through several world-first infrastructure projects. The railway track between Jammu and Srinagar is still being built. No trains are running between these Union Territory cities.

Travelers should allow 6 to 7 hours to complete the roughly 244-kilometer road trip from Jammu to Srinagar. The train will travel the journey in just three and a half hours thanks to Vande Bharat Express, reducing the total travel time.

In the Union Territory, this will be the second Vande Bharat train. The second train to be launched in India was the Vande Bharat Express, which originated in Jammu and Kashmir. In addition, it is the first vegetarian train in India, taking eight hours to complete the journey from Delhi to Vaishno Devi, a 40 percent reduction in time.

According to a source, Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai declared that it will launch Vande Bharat trains with unique features, including compartments and heaters. Specialized pipes will be installed to prevent water lines from freezing and perhaps breaking. This program is a component of ICF’s plan to create and produce different Vande Bharat train models.

The Indian Railways is building a vital railway line called the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project to connect Kashmir Valley with the rest of India. Although the train currently travels to Udhampur. It is the furthest point in J&K where trains from the rest of India can travel. However, a 118-kilometer railway line between Banihal and Baramulla is in the Kashmir Valley.

The USBRL would be finished by December 2023 or January 2024, according to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s announcement earlier in March. Moreover, after the project is finished, a Vande Bharat metro train will run between Jammu and Srinagar. According to Ashwini Vaishnaw, “We are targeting that Jammu-Srinagar connectivity be completed until December or January.”

“Passengers will have a quicker and more comfortable ride from Jammu to Srinagar once the Kashmir Valley is linked to the Indian railway system.” The new railway link between Jammu and Srinagar will likely take 3.5 hours to cover, according to Ashwini Vaishnaw. He also mentioned that Vande Metro service will run between the two cities. Meanwhile, the trains operate at a set frequency, as reported by PTI.

Vaishnaw did pooja and inspected the famous bridge 359 meters above the Chenab riverbed on March 26. He also went on the inaugural run of a track-mounted trolley on the world’s highest arch bridge over the Chenab River with railway officials.
