6. Extra Lessons
Just like your or mine school, South Korean students also attend classes from 8:30 A.M. to early afternoon. But, there is another addition. After the classes they have to wait for special classes which are conducted till 9:00 P.M. Also, these students have to spend thousands of extra tuition and extra classes.
7. No Prom Or Homecoming
Usually, in other parts during the homecoming, proms and other cultural activities are organized. But, in South Korean schools, there is nothing like that. There are no societies organizing such parties. Also, students generally go to other places to celebrate. It so and forth balances the odd.
8. Class Etiquette
When in other parts of the world, you are considered as a genius and is appreciated. This is not the case with South Korean school. And during the college times, yawning, taking nap in classes was a hand in hand part, students do not do it in South Korea, it is believed that if you do so it is assumed that you are bored or uninterested. Also, for asking question extra time after class is provided, doing it in the middle of the class proves that you are challenging the knowledge of professor.
9. Punishment
Every school has certain troublemakers and bullies. There has been not so harsh punishment to deal with them. However, in South Korea for dealing with such cases, South Korea applies corporal punishment. When in the other part of the world, harming a student physically is banned, in South Korea the practice still goes on.
10. Cleanliness
While cleanliness is very important in schools, South Korea has excelled in this term. The rules of being clean and maintain cleanliness all around the school is a must. Students are taught to use napkins and be clean while eating and they use the dustbins only.
Aren’t these rules very strange? I am shocked after reading it. Schools are responsible for making children disciplined and intelligent. But such rules are out of the list! There is a lot of difference between North Korea and South Korea. Find out the major differences here.
