Sudhir Yaduvanshi is known for his incredible versatility and soul-stirring voice. With hits like Kaawaa Kaawaa, Shambhu, Rang Hai Ri, Cha Chadeya, Bam Bhole Bam, Main Fariyadi, Jeena Nai Jeena, Image Banayenge, Layi Vi Na Gayi, Sukoon Ban Gaya, and many more, Sudhir has carved a niche for himself. But did you know before becoming a celebrated singer, he once dreamt of making it big in cricket?

Journey Of Sudhir Yaduvanshi

Not many know that Sudhir Yaduvanshi played alongside some of India’s finest cricketers, including Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma, Praveen Kumar, Parvinder Awana, and others. Talking about his cricketing days, Sudhir revealed:

“Cricket has been my passion since childhood, and at one point, I even considered pursuing it professionally. But coming from a lower-middle-class background, affording a proper cricket kit—let alone academy fees—was beyond my reach. I still found ways to play, though.”

He shared a lesser-known truth about the cricketing circuit: talented players would often play under the names of wealthy kids who wanted their names to progress in the sport.

“If a businessman’s son lacked talent but wanted his name to go forward, skilled players like me would play under their name. It was our way of earning while staying connected to the game.”

Sudhir’s journey saw him practicing with the best in the sport—bowling to Gautam Gambhir and training with Praveen Kumar, Parvinder Awana, Ishant Sharma, and Joginder Sharma. He played in many matches but always under a different identity.

“It was a thrilling experience. Cricket was my dream, but life had different plans for me.”

Destiny Had A Different Tune

While cricket was his first love, music became his true calling. Even today, Sudhir remains a die-hard cricket fan.

“My mother used to call me ‘Sachin Tendulkar’ because of how much I idolized him. No matter where I am—whether traveling or performing—I never miss an Indian cricket match.”

With the Champions Trophy on the horizon, Sudhir fully believes in Team India.

“We have a strong squad, and if they play to their potential, we can bring home the trophy!”
