The New York Post revealed details about International Space Station (ISS) astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore’s food choices.

What’s On The Menu?

During their stay at the ISS, NASA astronauts consumed typical space food that resembled Earth-based meals like pizza, roast chicken, and shrimp cocktails. During the mission, NASA doctors monitored the astronauts’ health status and tracked the food they ate.

Breakfast At ISS

A Starliner specialist reported that Williams and Wilmore’s breakfast selections consisted of tuna and cereal made with powdered milk. Medical professionals recorded the astronauts’ food consumption to ensure they received adequate nutrition during their prolonged spaceflight.

The availability of fresh produce was limited throughout their mission. The Space Food System Laboratory at the Johnson Space Center in Houston provided support, but fresh ingredients only lasted for a short time.

Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore had to switch to freeze-dried and packaged vegetarian options because fresh produce became unavailable as the mission continued.

Astronauts face numerous challenges during their spaceflight journeys, and nutrition remains a primary challenge that Williams and Wilmore, along with other crew members, encounter.
