Sushma Swaraj Ordered To Open Closed US Embessey To Give Visa To Son For His Father’s Funeral

In a quick reaction to a request made by a lady, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday guided Indian Embassy in Washington to offer visa to an Indian to go to his father's last rituals. Though, the mission was shut for two days for Vijaya Dashmi and Moharram.

Sarita Takru, a native of Karnal pleaded on twitter to grant visa to her US residing son Abhai Kaul, so that he can come to his father’s cremation.


After then, Sushma Swaraj tweeted, "Our Embassy in US is closed for Vijaya Dashmi and Moharram. I have sent a message.

Very soon after that, the Indian Embassy asked for contact details from Ms Takru, so that visa can be granted to his son.

Ms Takru told that her husband passed away on Monday and she had expressed her anger after knowing that the embassy will not be working on Tuesday and Wednesday.


"…Can't get Indian visa before Local Thursday. Is this human?"

"This dreadful wait must end. Please give my son Indian visa in US so his father may be cremated. Please support. Need empathy," Ms Takru tweeted.

To this, Ms Swaraj, sais, "I am sorry to know about the sad demise of your husband. Just wait – I will help you."

The External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj  is well known for her quick and prompt responses to Indians in any sort of distress abroad.
