Miss Universe India 2024 finalist Chayanika Debnath used Instagram to describe how she found worms in her rice bowl after ordering from The Good Bowl, a cloud kitchen chain that operates numerous outlets in India. Swiggy replied to her. Chayanika disclosed through her Instagram post that she discovered worms in the rice bowl she had ordered, leading to widespread concerns over food delivery hygiene standards.
Many people directly use The Good Bowl through food delivery platforms that conveniently provide meals. Chayanika’s unexpected food discovery triggered public debate about food quality and safety standards despite the positive reputation of these brands. She provided proof by posting a receipt on Instagram and a short clip confirming she had ordered food from The Good Bowl’s Kolkata outlet.
Her post quickly gained popularity, as numerous users were worried about food safety and the delivery industry’s lack of regulatory measures. The failure to uphold expected quality standards demonstrates that major brands can still deliver inferior products to their customers.

Swiggy Responded To Chayankia

Chayanika also shared her frustration with the response she received from Swiggy, stating that they only refunded her money after being notified about the issue but took no further action to address it.
“Thank you @swiggyindia and @thegoodbowlindia for feeding me worms when I asked for a bowl of rice. Customers’ health and hygiene while preparing meals is a joke for you!!! And Swiggy’s answer to this issue is, ‘We’ve refunded.’ I’ve mailed Swiggy for strict action against the restaurant and am still waiting for a response whereas when I reached out to Good Bowl’s Insta handle, they just asked for my number and vanished! Boom!!”
In the comments, Swiggy replied by saying,
“Hi Chayanika, that shouldn’t have happened. Could you please help us with the order details on DM, so we can run this by the team?”
The official Instagram handle of The Good Bowl also acknowledged the issue in the comments section. They wrote,
“We are extremely sorry you had to go through this. We are looking into this, and we assure you we will get to the bottom of this. Sorry for the experience once again!”
