Swiggy and Zomato are the top two options for everybody who craves food at home. The two food delivery apps are known for their fast services. Recently, both firms have made significant changes to their free-delivery policies for their premium members. What could it be? How has the change in policy affected the customers and premium members? Continue reading to gain answers to these questions.
Changes Made By Swiggy And Zomato
The previous free-delivery policies, of Swiggy and Zomato, for premium members allowed free delivery from restaurants within a 10 km radius. However, a recent change in the policy has left people furious. The policy has now been changed to 7 km. The reduction in the distance seems frustrating to the premium members. Swiggy offers its ‘One Membership’ at a decent amount of Rs 99 per month and Zomato provides its ‘Gold Membership’ for the same amount.
Customers React To The Change
Well, this change has disappointed the customers. People took to X to express their frustration and anger. Some call it pure nonsense while some tag it as deceiving. Customers are mocking Swiggy for following Zomato’s move. They are calling both the firms brothers who upset their customers.
Zomato has reduced its Gold free delivery range up to just 7 kms???
This is pure nonsense.
Nearby restaurants themselves do a free delivery why would I pay for gold then?
I hope Swiggy doesn’t copy this and reduce their 10km mark to 7km now. pic.twitter.com/miBan28yjy— Ripudaman (@mrtechsense) June 23, 2024
#Swiggy is quick to tweak its membership benefits after #Zomato‘s move.
Now free delivery above 199 (₹149 earlier) on all restaurants within 7km (10 km earlier) same as Zomato. pic.twitter.com/siCIf38pX1

@zomatocare My Zomato Gold is about to expire. The new offer is very lucrative but deceiving. The distance has been reduced from 10km to 7km. Why can’t i have the same gold offer as last time. You’ll lose a customer to Swiggy if this isn’t reverted. pic.twitter.com/oXwjxw5lxI

Zomato and Swiggy have reduced free delivery radius from 10km to 7km! That’s outrageous. Why is no one talking about this?

Yeh @zomato and @Swiggy dono bhai bhai h dosto 😁
Pehle Zomato discount reduce karta he then swiggy follows it.
Now this food delivery buisness is monopoly in nature which is eventually not good for the customers…

Customers tag the food-delivery apps in their posts stating how soon they will lose their customers if they continue the new policy. Putting forward their arguments they state why one would need Gold membership when restaurants within a 7 km radius themselves provide free delivery.
What do you think about this new policy? Will this sustain? Will the food-delivery apps lose their customers? We are looking forward to your opinions.
