Tata Sky is one of the largest Direct to Home (DTH) platforms in India. It has rebranded itself with a new name and now be called Tata Play. Those who are using Tata Sky Binge might be aware that there was no support of Netflix in Binge Box. However, now the DTH company has joined hands with Netflix to offer new OTT-centric channel packs as well. From today, i.e. January 27, the new name of the company Tata Play will be visible to the viewers.
Finally, Netflix Is Here In Tata Play Binge
The users who are using Binge Box will be able to get a subscription to both the OTT platforms in the Binge service as well as the normal TV channels with OTT combo packs. Tata Play Binge will hosts content from 13 leading OTT apps through a single User Interface which also includes Netflix. It also offers the flexibility of a single subscription and payment. Harit Nagpal, MD, and CEO of Tata Play Ltd explained,
“We also welcome Netflix to our family. Plus, we are making service visits free for all customers starting today, and our de-active DTH customers can continue to recharge and get restarted on the platform with no re-connection charges. The name Tata Play thus signifies our expanded range of product and services. The new identity is an outcome of our desire to be future-ready while making tomorrow better than today for homes and families.”
Tata Sky Broadband Is Now Tata Play Fiber
All the other services associated with Tata Sky have also been renamed. Harit added,
“I firmly believe that it’s one thing to own content, quite another to make it accessible. Distribution is what makes content easily discoverable for the masses, consumed, and talked about. Our DTH business has a sizeable market share and we’ll continue our endeavor to expand the TV viewing universe. Our Broadband business with 100 percent fiber network provides impressive speeds, and that’s why we renamed it to Tata Play Fiber.”
Free Service Visits
Tata Play customers who have not recharged their packs can get reconnections for free. Also, the company has also decided to remove the service visit charges of INR 175 completely.
Tata Play is a joint venture between Tata Sons and The Walt Disney Company. It has had around 23 million households in India over the years. With OTT platforms in are future, Tata Play took the first step to integrate and accept OTT with its OTT combo packs.
