The Indian squad has decided not to go to Pakistan in 2025 for the ICC Champions Trophy. Rather, they will ask the International Cricket Council to think about holding the games in Dubai or Sri Lanka. Pakistan will host the ICC Champions Trophy in February and March of 2025. Because of the tense relationship between the two countries, India has not participated in any cricket competitions held in Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup.

BCCI stated that “India will not go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025. We will recommend to the ICC that the matches be held in Dubai or Sri Lanka.” Vice-President of the BCCI Rajeev Shukla had declared earlier in May that the Indian squad will only visit Pakistan for the competition with central government approval. Shukla clarified saying, “For the Champions Trophy, we will abide by the decision of the Government of India. Our team travels only with the permission of the Indian government, so we will act according to their decision.” Will ICC consider India’s request? Well, time is the answer to all questions.

Ex-MLA and spokesperson Krishna Hegde praised the decision of BCCI. He stated that the Shiv Sena applauded and welcomed the BCCI’s action of urging the ICC to change the venue of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. “Shiv Sena welcomes the move of BCCI. Cricket and Terrorism can’t go together in Pakistan. These were also the thoughts of our leader Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray ji,” Hegde stated.
