Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was involved in a car crash that implicated 4 vehicles. A woman was also injured when the actor’s giant Yukon SUV landed on her vehicle. According to reports, Schwarzenegger was behind the steering wheel when the accident occurred. The pileup occurred at the crossing of Sunset Boulevard and Allenford Avenue as confirmed by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) spokeswoman, Margaret Stewart.
Causes Of Accidents
There are several reasons for vehicle crashes in the US. However, the most glaring culprit is driver error. According to the National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Survey (NMVCCS), more than 90% of all collisions are caused by the driver. Fewer than 10% are attributed to vehicle defects or unknown reasons. Driving mistakes such as high speeds in poor conditions, false assumptions of other drivers’ actions, misjudgment of gaps or spaces, and illegal maneuvers account for 33% of all crashes. Sleep deprivation is also a critical factor in poor driving behavior. Distracted driving, intoxication, and rain are identified, too, as top causes of accidents in America.
In the case of Schwarzenegger, the reason for the crash was a left turn maneuver even though the arrow was still red. His failure to obey traffic signals resulted in a collision with a red Prius which the injured woman was driving. His Yukon SUV ended up on top of the Prius and rolled left into a Porsche Taycan and another unnamed vehicle. The impact caused the airbags to deploy in the SUV of the actor who was with his fitness celeb pal, Jake Steinfeld.
Implications Of The Collision
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed that neither drug or alcohol are suspected as a cause of the collision. When accidents like these happen, injuries and material damage are bound to occur. A representative for the ex-Governor said that Schwarzenegger is doing fine, and his main concern is for the woman who was hurt. The victim of the said accident was sent to the hospital for treatment. In this case, she can hire an auto accident injury attorney to represent her in court and claim compensation for her treatment and damages of her vehicle. If the car is totaled or requires repairs, the plaintiff can get money to fix it up or replace the vehicle.
In addition to medical expenses such as doctor visits, medications, or surgery if needed, the victim can still receive reparation for the full costs of medical care including rehabilitation and counseling. Furthermore, lost wages because of the inability to return to work due to severe injuries are also covered. Hence, the woman may receive full compensation for the time she could not work as an undesirable outcome of the accident.
Road accidents have consequences including injuries and property damage. Luckily, in the incident involving the former Governor of California, the multiple vehicle crash did not lead to loss of life. It also affirmed that failure to obey traffic signals was the main reason for the accident.
