Earth, a place where we live, every living being live. However, in a matter of centuries, human beings have dramatically changed various facets of planet earth. The Earth’s crust has constantly changed since its formation. Various spices continue to evolve and take new forms. Few of them even got extinct in the ever-changing physical environments. Nevertheless, human activities are the most dominant force affecting global change, harming the atmosphere of the Earth. When you see the Life of Earth from Space on ZEE5, you will see many changes.
As per the study conducted by NASA’s Goddard Institute, the global temperature of Earth has risen by 0.8 degrees Celsius since 1880. The thermometer readings have risen continuously.
1. Massive Increase In The Population
The World’s population in the year 1917 was about 2 billion. After around 100 years, the population has spiked to 7.7 billion. This is a huge number. With the continuous increase in the population of human beings, various changes are made to accommodate these people, many houses have been built, for that many trees have been cut down to clear the land.
2. Global Warming
A rise in the temperature will continuously cause the glaciers to melt. It causes sea levels to rise and many major cities are affecting by this, as most of the human population is located in those places. The disturbances in the weather create many natural calamities like hurricanes, cyclones, tsunami, etc.
3. Evolution Of Technologies
With the evolution of technologies, these things are also affecting our planet earth severely. We all are addicted to mobiles, internet, television, etc. However, to everyone surprise, these things were not available around 100 years ago. Do you know a recent report suggest that more than 6 billion people have access to cell phones today; which is approximately 1.5 billion more than the number of people have access to clean toilets. The technologies have various advantages, but if you see the other side, you will find that the US alone produces 50 million tons of e-waste every year and the most of it, is not disposed of properly.
4. Evolution Of Automobiles
In 1986, there were around 500 million vehicles and by 2010, the no. of an automobile had risen to over 1 billion vehicles. The number is not stopping there; it is kept on growing in big countries like China, India, and the US, etc. In 2017, according to research, the worldwide number of motor vehicles and operation jumped over the 1.2 billion marks and by 2035, the usage will go up to 2 billion. The numbers are huge and so as the drawbacks. The increase in automobiles has increased the level of pollution. Air pollution, noise pollution, water pollution has rapidly increased in a century causing serious problems to our planet Earth.
5. Extinction Of Various Species
Human actions over the last 100 years affected the Earth very severely. There are 82,954 animals and plants are in the red list of endangered species by International Union for the Conservation of Nature. With almost a third threatened with being wiped out completely.
The loss is so big that it cannot be filled completely. Still, we can fix a few things that can reduce the loss in the future by taking these small steps.
1. Turn Off Your Devices
When not using, we can turn off our electronic devices. This will help to protect ourselves and other remaining species of Earth from dangerous rays.
2. Ride Your Cycle More Than Car
Riding cycle will help you in reducing pollution and keep you away from health problems.
3. Plant More Trees
We need to plant more trees to keep the balance of the environment.
4. Save Water
When not in use, close the tap, save water. Many cities do not have underground water. These little changes will help in protecting the earth for many years to come.
This is our Planet, we need to take care of it because we will only be responsible for our actions. Save planet Earth.
