In India’s top 10 high streets, Somajiguda in Hyderabad and Linking Road in Mumbai are placed second and third, respectively, according to the Knight Frank research titled “Think India Think Retail 2023.” The top ten rankings included Commercial Street (7th), Brigade Road (9th), and Church Street (10th) in Bengaluru.
The other high streets in the top ten list include South Extension (Part 1 and Part 2) in Delhi, which is ranked fourth; Park Street and Camac Street in Kolkata, which is ranked fifth, Anna Nagar in Chennai, which is ranked sixth, and Sector 18 Market in Noida, which is ranked eighth.
Few Details According To The Report
The research gave low marks to markets that are inwardly focused, like Khan Market in Delhi and DLF Galleria in Gurugram. On the other hand, MG Road in Bengaluru, Somajiguda in Hyderabad, Linking Road in Mumbai, Anna Nagar, Park Street, and Camac Street in Kolkata are just a few examples of access road markets that scored highly.
According to the survey, several high streets in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi-NCR provide a unique shopping experience that retail malls cannot match.
The early adoption of modern retail, involvement in organized retailing, and the expansion of mega-retailers throughout the length and breadth of these cities, according to the report, give high streets in places like Brigade Road, Indiranagar, Colaba Causeway, Connaught Place, and Khan Market a special character.
The survey also mentioned that these high streets have a loyal following of repeat consumers and are well-known for their mix of local and international brand retailers.
Cost To Lease A Property
The Central Business District of Bengaluru is home to a number of stores, eateries, and bars that draw many visitors from all across the city. In comparison to other major cities, Indian high streets are reportedly cheaper for retailers to lease premises and open stores.
In comparison to Indiranagar’s 100 Feet Road, which had a higher average rent of Rs 150–Rs 200 per square foot per month, MG Road had an average monthly rent per square foot of between Rs 100 and Rs 125.
