As per the report ‘Burgundy Private Hurun India 500’ released by research firm Hurun India in partner with Axis Bank’s private Banking Business Burgundy Private the top employment generating sector is Software & Services. The total number of employees in the software & services sector in Indian companies is nearly about 15 lakhs in which Tata Consultancy Services a top software company in India alone employ about 5,06,908 employees.
Following the software & services sector, the financial services and automobile & auto components sectors are in second and third places in generating employment having employees count of 10, 36,605 and 5, 57,191 respectively. And other sectors like healthcare, construction & engineering, services, telecommunication, consumer goods, metals & mining, and construction materials are in the top 10 lists.
According to the report, the value of the companies in the list is about 228 lakh crore which is more than the current GDP of India. The companies on the list are indeed the backbone of India’s economy. They are also playing a key role in generating employment opportunities in the country. In cumulative around 6.9 million staff are employed by these companies which is equivalent to 1.5% of India’s total workforce and higher than the working population of the United Arab Emirates.
The list contains both 100 years old companies like Forbes & Company and 10 years old start-up companies like Mensa Brands. As the list increases, the women employment can also increase, the Tata Consultancy Services held the top in the list in employing women which employ nearly about 2 lakhs women. Infosys and Wipro are other two well-known and top software companies in India that hold second and position in employing women with a count of 1,00,321 and 72,000 employees respectively. Motherson Sumi Systems, an automotive manufacturing company, and HDFC Bank are also on the list that employs more women employees.

TCS is in top in the Hurun India 500 lists to employees more people having the count of about 5.06 lakh employees. It is a leading global IT service, consulting, and business solutions company in India.
2. Quess Corp
Quess Corp is a provider of technology and business services having headquarters in Bangalore. It is second on the list with an employee count of about 3,63,136.
3. Larsen & Toubro
Larsen & Toubro is commonly known as L&T, is an Indian multinational conglomerate running a business in engineering, construction, manufacturing, technology, and financial services with headquarters based in Mumbai. It employs more than 3.6 lakh workforce.
4. Infosys
Infosys Limited is an Indian multinational IT company providing business in consulting, information technology, and outsourcing services. It is Pune Based Company and having headquartered in Bangalore. Its workforce counts near 2.6 lakh.
5. Reliance Industries
With a workforce of 2.36 lakh, the Reliance industries hold 5th position in the list. It is an Indian Multinational company having headquartered in Mumbai.
