According to the most recent standings, Air New Zealand has surpassed Qatar Airways, which had held the top spot for two years.

Air New Zealand was named the world’s best airline for its excellent cabin innovation, which included beds for economy-class customers on its new 787s. Furthermore, the airline’s excellent passenger service and rapid recuperation from COVID-related disruptions attributed to its first-place finish. According to Geoffrey Thomas, the Editor-in-Chief of AirlineRatings.com,

“Air New Zealand’s commitment to excellence in all facets of its business starts at the top with outstanding governance and one of the best executive teams in aviation through to a workforce that is delivering consistently to the airline’s strategy and customer promise.”

“Like all airlines across the globe, Air New Zealand has faced severe disruptions during and after the pandemic and this year, huge challenges from storms and cyclones. However, the airline has responded well.”

This year’s air travel environment’s stability is still up in the air. Interestingly, Geoffrey Thomas noted that the top five airlines were in strong competition, despite Air New Zealand being the top-ranked airline for 2023.

AirlineRatings.com’s ranking of Qatar Airways, which was first last year, places the airline in second place this year. In addition, the airline was recognized for its excellence in long-haul travel to the Middle East, best catering, and best business class.

On the 2023 list from AirlineRatings.com, Etihad Airways of Abu Dhabi secured the third position. Fourth place went to Korean Air, which won the Excellence in Long Haul Travel – North Asia award. The Best First Class and Excellence in Long Haul Travel – Southeast Asia winners Singapore Airlines got fifth place overall in the rankings.
