However, there are a few players who didn’t quite live up to the hype surrounding them. Let us now find out fiver such Indian players who will only be remembered for just one match they have played for Indian cricket team.

Dinesh Mongia made his debut for India in 2001. Despite a relatively slow start to his career, the left-handed batsman managed to score 71 and 49 against England in consecutive ODIs.

Suddenly, he became an important player in the Indian camp and even scored a mammoth 159 against Zimbabwe which in turn clinched them the series.

However, that was literally all he offered. Despite being picked into the Indian squad in 2003, he was dropped from the squad altogether a few years later.

2. Hrishikesh Kanitkar

He had a very impressive first-class career, but couldn’t replicate the same on the international level. However, he will most fondly ne remembered for his winning four runs during the final of the independence cup in Dhaka in 1998.

He played over 39 ODIs for India during a rather unimpressive career which yielded just 339 runs. He was not effective with the ball as well as he managed a paltry 19 wickets over the course of his career.

3. Ajay Ratra

Once he was considered an exciting wicket keeping prospect for the Indian national team, Ajay Ratra was known only for his inconsistent performances. Despite his rather unimpressive performances with the bat, he did manage to score 115 against West Indies thereby becoming the youngest Wicketkeeper to do so.

He scores just 48 runs in 9 tests overall before being completely axed from the team.

4. Joginder Sharma

Joginder Sharma will be remembered for bowling the last over against Pakistan in the inaugural T20 world cup which India won. He managed to take the wicket of Misbah Ul Haq at the very end which eventually won India the ICC T20 title.

After more and continuous inconsistent performances for the national side, he was dropped from the side and never played for the team ever again.

5. Stuart Binny

Son of legendary Indian cricketer, Roger Binny, Stuart never quite lived up to his father’s name. However, during an ODI against Bangladesh in 2014, he managed to record a world class 6 wicket with just 4 runs conceded and he became part of Indian cricket folklore. He was dropped from the team for good after the 2015 world cup.

These were some of the few cricketers who came and went from the Indian Cricket team. We will certainly have to wait to find out who could be the next Sachin Tendulkar. If you think these players were unlucky, click here to view International players who had a similar fate.
