Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his disappointment and called the attack a folly of Iran, adding that Tehran will regret its actions. Some Iranian officials claimed that the missiles were in response to the recent attack of killing the leaders of Hezbollah and Hamas at the hands of Israeli forces.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps said it was behind the attack that targeted Israeli military bases near Tel Aviv. Some Iranian officials said that further strikes by Israelis could result in even more missile attacks from Iran. On the other hand, Israeli officials continue to be sure about the defense and are developing the most important and chief strategy to respond to the attack. According to many journalists, Guy Nir, a spokesman for the Israeli embassy in India, said that Israel will respond but will not initiate a large-scale war against Iran but will attack the main Iranian asset.

The missile attack comes with rising tension in the region. Israeli forces recently conducted an operation in Southern Lebanon, targeting the leader for inflaming the situation. Over 1800 people have reportedly been killed since the conflict intensified earlier this month.

That is why a missile strike on Tehran seems rather like an addition to its nuclear activity, confirming the general idea of developing some regional war. In a related upgrade, Israel began deploying tanks and motorized infantry into southern Lebanon to attack Hezbollah. Lebanese authorities said the latest Israeli raids had claimed at least 55 lives. The tensions have escalated in the country since early October.

The health ministry in Lebanon has claimed that more than 1800 people have been killed so far and hundreds of thousands have been displaced throughout the region. Prospects of near future escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iranian-backed groups in Lebanon and Gaza have caused stirs all over the world.

Global Implications

As a result, neighboring countries, including Iraq and Jordan, have closed their air space, and major regional airports have suspended operations. There is a growing fear that conflict will spread beyond Israel and Iran, with Iraqi militants threatening US military bases if Washington becomes involved. Even, Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom openly supported Israel.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the missile attack, calling for an immediate ceasefire to prevent this further escalation. Meanwhile, regional powers like Jordan and Iraq are preparing for a potential fallout while international flights in and out of Israel and Iran remain suspended.
