Transportation Secretary’s Statement
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated that the Black Hawk helicopter followed a standard flight pattern during the crash. The helicopter crew was aware of the nearby passenger plane in the immediate vicinity. Duffy said,
“Last night, the helicopter was in a standard pattern. If you live in the DC area, you’ll see helicopters up and down the river, this flight pattern is seen oftentimes when you live in DC. This was not unusual with a military aircraft flying over the river and aircraft landing at DCA and again if you live in the area, you’ll see that frequently with those two aircraft working together.”
Recently, a plane crashed in Kazakhstan also caused many lives. In the US plane crash, the tragic midair collision over the Potomac River has left no survivors. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the US plane crash. As authorities continue search and recovery efforts, families await answers, and officials remain committed to ensuring airspace safety to prevent future disasters.
