Indian Railways is set to launch two new trains in the coming months: the Vande Bharat sleeper train and the Vande Metro. Vande Metro, a 12-coach train designed for short-distance travel, is expected to be rolled out by January 2024. The Vande Bharat sleeper train, which will have sleeper coaches, is expected to be rolled out by March 2024. Continue reading to learn more about the new trains.
Vande Bharat Sleeper Train
The Vande Bharat sleeper train is expected to be a game-changer for Indian Railways as it will be the first sleeper train to be designed and manufactured in India. This train is expected to have several modern features, including automatic doors, bio-toilets, and CCTV cameras. The train is also expected to have a top speed of 160 km/h, making it one of the fastest trains in India.
Recently, Mallya said, “Sleeper coach of Vande Bharat will be rolled out in the current financial year where the first train is under production and will be rolled out in March 2024.”
This train will be a significant addition to the Indian Railways fleet. Moreover, this will allow passengers to travel longer distances on these high-speed trains overnight.
Furthermore, the first non-air-conditioned Vande Bharat is expected to launch in October. This aims to offer passengers cheaper travel without compromising speed or comfort.
Vande Metro
The Vande Metro, on the other hand, is designed for short-distance travel and is expected to be a more affordable option for commuters. The train is expected to have several modern features, including automatic doors, LED lighting, and CCTV cameras. The train is also expected to have a top speed of 110 km/h.
Mallya said, “Vande Metro will be rolled out by January, which will have 12 coaches.” This train will be used for short-distance travel.
The launch of these two trains is part of Indian Railways’ efforts to modernize its fleet and provide better services to passengers. The Vande Bharat sleeper and the Vande Metro are expected to provide passengers with a comfortable and safe travel experience while reducing travel time and increasing efficiency. The train’s maximum speed is 180 Kmph, but it is capped at 130 kmph for commercial use. This is because of track conditions.
However, the Mumbai CSMT-Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat Express has the lowest average speed. Its speed is about 64 Kmph. At the same time, the fastest average speed is maintained by the New Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express. This runs at an average speed of 95 kmph.
Overall, the launch of these two trains is a positive development for Indian Railways and is expected to benefit millions of passengers across the country. Earlier this year, the officials stated that the next generation of trains could have a maximum speed of 200 kmph.
