Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut, a newly elected MP from Mandi, is said to have been slapped on Thursday at Chandigarh Airport by a female member of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). According to the reports, the woman constable Kulwinder Kaur hit Kangana in the heat of an argument. Reports also indicate that the newly elected MP was not cooperating with security and allegedly pushed the security personnel after refusing to submit her mobile phone in the tray during the mandatory security check. Ranaut left for Delhi at 3 PM on a Vistara flight.
Upon arriving in Delhi, Kangana briefed the situation to senior officials, including CISF Director General Nina Singh and other officials. To carry out further investigation, a group of senior CISF officials have been appointed to an inquiry committee. “I am getting a lot of phone calls, from the media as well as my well-wishers. First of all, I am safe, I am perfectly fine. The incident that happened today at Chandigarh airport was during the security check. As soon as I came out after the security check, the lady in the second cabin, a CISF security staff came from the side, hit me in the face, and started abusing me. When I asked her why she did so, she said that she supports farmers’ protests. I am safe but I am concerned about the terrorism and extremism that is increasing in Punjab.”
Who Is Kulwinder Kaur Who Hit Kangana Ranaut?
Kulwinder Kaur, who hit the newly elected MP is from Sultanpur Lodhi in Punjab’s Kapurthala. She is the sister of a farmer leader Sher Singh Malhiwal and is said to support the farmers’ protest.
Ranaut was attacked days after winning the Lok Sabha seat from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. According to the data of the Election Commission of India, Kangana from BJP secured 5,37,022 votes in her first Lok Sabha election. She defeated her opponent, Congress rival Vikramaditya Singh, by 74,755 votes.
