Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant were the ones who brought joy to billions of Indians by taking center stage. Indians were certain that their team had lost to Pakistan until Bumrah altered the course of play during the first fifteen overs of the second half. Bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who won “Player of the Match” for his winning spell, expressed his excitement at being in the bowling action. In an interview with his wife, anchor Sanjana Ganesan, Bumrah discussed the game after the victory over Pakistan. Jasprit Bumrah stated to ICC Digital Insider,
“It was a good day. The wicket did change after a while because the wicket that we played on last time had a lot more help. But in the morning, it was overcast and then later on the sun opened up and you know the wicket did dry up. So, it did get better to bat on. So, it was slightly better to bat on so the seam and the swing was less but yeah, we are very happy that we were able to pull that off with you know constant pressure, trying to be clear with what we want to do, and try to make runs scoring difficult.”
He continued,
“So very happy that you know we were together and we were very clear, we never panicked at any stage. So that is a great sign for us going forward as well.”
Bumrah talked about Mohammad Rizwan’s dismissal and said,
“So, at that time it is difficult what are the options. We have to asses the situation, what is the other batsman going to do as well. So, I was trying to back what is working for me because we played few games here. So, try to make runs scoring as difficult as possible, try to make them hit on the bigger side, try to you know be nice and calm. So, that was going on at that time and the execution was good. The ball did stay a little low. We were very happy that you know that changed the momentum and then the things were in our favor.”
