The incident occurred in the Ganganagar neighborhood of Panihati, which is close to Kolkata. The couple comes from the North 24 Parganas District in West Bengal and has been identified: Sathi, the mother, and Jaydev, the father.
The incident came to light after locals got suspicious of the couple after they could not see the baby for weeks and reported the matter to the police, a senior officer said.
Using their brand-new iPhone, the couple sought to create captivating reels that would showcase their travels through various state regions on social media platforms.
It was also made public that the father previously tried to sell their 7-year-old daughter.

 

Involvement Of The Police

According to the officer, the incident took place a month ago but was only reported to the police on July 24.
The father has reportedly fled, while the mother has been taken into custody by the police. “The mother has also admitted that they spent the money that was earned by selling the baby to travel to places like Digha and Mandarmoni,” An officer added.
“We will also book them, as this is illegal,” the officer said. The officers also suspect the involvement of a child trafficking racket. More information is still being withheld as the police continue their investigation and delve further into the complexities of the case.

Giving further information, a representative claimed that the accused couple, Jaydev and his wife Sathi, had sold their 8-month-old son to Priyanka Ghosh, a local of the Rahra neighborhood.
